Lubaina Himid & Rosa-Johan Uddoh at Tate Modern
A major new solo exhibition by Lubaina Himid opens today at Tate Modern. As part of the Tate Late event tomorrow, a newly captioned & remastered version of Rosa-Johan Uddoh‘s film Black Poirot will have its UK Premiere.
Artist Rosa-Johan Uddoh recasts Agatha Christie’s fictional detective as Martinican philosopher Édouard Glissant in this engaging and insightful short video. Adopting the structure of the British television series, Black Poirot highlights a constellation of Black figures whose work actively rejects the central colonialist plot.’
The event is from 6-10pm on Friday 26th November and there will be two screenings of Black Poirot at 8.30pm and 9.30pm in the Starr Cinema. Rosa-Johan Uddoh will introduce both screenings. The film is fully captioned for the hard of hearing and D/deaf. You can book a free ticket here.
