Sophia Al-Maria: New guest editor of The Happy Hypocrite – Analysis Paralysis
We are delighted to announce that issue 8, is guest edited by Sophia Al-Maria and due to be published by Book Works, Summer 2015. The Happy Hypocrite is now looking for submissions for this guest edited issue Analysis Paralysis.
The material that lubricates our acceleration into the uncertain future (petroleum) is a paralytic drug leeched into our collective bloodstream, destroying all rational thought and leaving us without escape. This numbing venom allows us to lope onwards in a hallucinatory, consumptive daze without recognising what beasts are eating us at this very moment.
We are looking for new forms of writing steeped in the fossil fuel this issue takes it cue from. Fill me with digital pollution and eco horror; make volatile the rewilding of territories, extinction crises or first contact fantasies; burn off viscous words, explore the membranous, and the conjuncture of primeval and pornographic imagery; juice your imagination with images of the psychotronic and psychotropic warfare. Lubricate my resistance to this infernal state of paralysis.
The Happy Hypocrite is a annual journal for and about experimental art writing. Hard copy or electronic submissions are accepted for both text and image work. All submissions should be sent with a cover page detailing artist’s/writer’s name, address, telephone number and email address and a short CV (no more than one side A4 please). Text submissions should be no more than 2,000 words, 12 point, with a double line space. Image or text/image submissions should be no more than 6 pages, 12 point, with a double line space. Images can be sent in TIFF, GIF, JPEG format. Max size per attachment is 2 MB.
The Happy Hypocrite will return work if a stamped, self-addressed envelope is included. We will only contact you if we want to publish your submission.
