FULL-TIME DIRECTOR POSITION

Book Works seeks an experienced new Co-Director (Publishing) to lead this dynamic organisation into the next phase of its development together with Rob Hadrill, Co-Director (Studio).

We are looking for an ambitious and talented person to lead and direct on the artistic programme at Book Works, with an overall vision for the organisation and its future direction, developing the programme and championing a case for creative diversity alongside fundraising, income generation and financial strategies.

We are very sad to hear that Book Works’ Artist Patron, Susan Hiller has passed away, following a short illness.

The Trustees of Book Works and Rob Hadrill, Founding Director (Studio), announce Jane Rolo, Founding Director (Publishing) will be leaving Book Works this autumn 2019. For the last thirty-five years Jane has led publishing and commissioning at Book Works, building a singular approach to working with artists. Her incomparable contribution to art and publishing has been to foreground a unique space for the production of artists books.

‘Trouser-wearing, French-speaking, home-wrecking Victorian cartoonist Marie Duval appears to have drawn a new comic book – ‘Drawing in Drag…’ But has she?

Looking more closely, ‘Drawing in Drag by Marie Duval’ is the latest comic book from celebrated artist, writer and cartoonist Simon Grennan, performing as Duval, as though the cartoonist and actress had been revived in the twenty-first century.

We are delighted to announce that The Happy Hypocrite – Silver Bandage, issue 11 is guest edited by Erica Scourti and due to be published in January 2019.

The Happy Hypocrite is now looking for submissions to this forthcoming issue, Silver Bandage, featuring contributions by CAConrad and Daniella Valz Gen.
