Two nine week courses in hand bookbinding, on either Monday evening or Wednesday evening. Students will have the opportunity to learn basic bookbinding techniques through a variety of historical and contemporary styles, and to use conventional and unconventional binding materials. There will also be a chance to develop a personal project in the latter stages.

The course will be for a maximum of 8 students and will be run by Ina Baumeister at Book Works Studio in Shoreditch.

This workshop will act as an introduction to the process of editing in relation to artists’ books, covering questions relating to both writing and images, collaborative writing practices, rules and protocol, grammar and the spoken word, as well as the more nitty-gritty issues regarding collating texts, images, captions, and proofing.

Book Works is launching a Kickstarter campaign here to raise funds to produce and publish Diab Alkarssifi’s lost archive of Lebanese and Arab photographs, which will be brought to light in a new book by Ania Dabrowska, published by Book Works and the Arab Image Foundation, April 2015

Book Works is currently seeking a part time financial administrator/bookkeeper to start work in late September/early October 2014. We are looking for someone who has bookkeeping experience to trial balance stage, and preferably someone who has experience of working in the voluntary/arts/publishing sector. A good working knowledge of Quickbooks accountancy package is essential.
