Ikon Gallery, Birmingham, B1, 29 September – 9 October, 2004

Leipzig based artists Tilo Schulz and Mark Hamilton examine the editorial relationships between art, the exhibition and its audience, employing wall paintings, sculpture and archive TV and film footage to re-address the mediation of art and ideas and their relation to a nomadic audience. As contributors to and co-editors of Spector cut paste Schulz and Hamilton’s installations lift text from the page to ask ‘What would a 3D publication look like?’

BOOKBINDING FOR BEGINNERS

A nine week course in hand bookbinding. Students will have the opportunity to learn basic bookbinding techniques through a variety of historical and contemporary styles, and to use conventional and unconventional binding materials. There will also be a chance to develop a personal project in the latter stages. The course will be for a maximum of 8 students and will be run by Ina Baumeister at Book Works Studio.
